Amazing.
Awesome.
Challenging.
Coffee fuelled.
100% worth every stumble, trip, bump, coffee, hours of airport waiting, drop of champagne and all the laughter. Oh so much laughter.
According to BestNine of 2015 these photos represent the best moments of the year. Which is fairly close. There’s snippets from Mongolia, London and Copenhagen. But surely the year was more spectacular than these 9 photos?
Well yes it was!
No need to bore you with the nitty gritty details. The year started off as any other with one big trip to Mongolia planned and partially paid for. I could never have guessed how this year rolled on out and over me.
Unexpected travel.
We danced around Dunedin, New Zealand for a family wedding. Jumping the ditch for an express three day tour, driving the long road down from Christchurch. This trip was bitter sweet as my Grandfather passed away while we were in transit. Such is life.
Feel madly in love with the mountains.
I’ve always enjoyed being in the mountains but spending time in the Altai Mountains in Mongolia really showed me how much I love adventures in the mountains.
Let’s be honest I feel in love with Mongolia. The people, the food, the horses.
Attended my first TBEX Asia.
One night the lovely Anje from Going Somewhere Slowly made a passing mention of how fun it would be to meet up in Bangkok and go to TBEX. So I did. And we did have a lot of fun together. And a hell of a lot of mango sticky rice. Cause it’s delicious.
It was fascinating to meet so many other travel bloggers and see how they function offline vs online. Sadly it was not always a great interaction. Just a note to anyone thinking of attending TBEX- respect.
Express Euro Trip.
It sounded like a really good idea at the time. Just pop over to Europe, see some friends, see family and be awesome. In reality it was exactly that! 10 days, 3 countries and 9 flights.
England. Denmark. Finland.
Walked a lot.
I walked a lot this year. Like a lot lot. Toned up thighs a lot. Around every city I visited I walked the streets. Pounded the pavement and explored. Which was helped by Expique in Bangkok and Context Travel in London.
I lost my dream job.
So this happened. Yup. I had what every part time traveler mildly fears. Coming home to be told that you’ve been made redundant. With just enough funds to cover my expenses for a month I took some time off for me and the puppies to spend together before taking on some freelance work. It wasn’t the end of the world and certainly gave me a little nudge to book a few extra flights.
Explored cities new and old.
I was thrilled to be back in Tokyo on our way to Mogolia. And I was just as thrilled to have 24hrs to explore and eat my way around Hong Kong on the way home.
Despite the perceived cost of everything and anything in Denmark I found it to be an utterly mesmerising city full of life, history and most importantly coffee and stroople waffles.
And I got to meet all the deer in Aarhus.
Made a lot of new friends
So many lovely people crossed our path this year.
One big trip for the year turned into 4 international trips and countless road trips.
Things that didn’t happen in 2015
I didn’t get to go ice skating at Hyde Park.
We didn’t get engaged, married or make a baby. And that is totally ok!
I didn’t get myself another tattoo.
Cheers to 2015 you’ve done well! Now roll on 2016 and even more adventures and coffee.
I met you! Finally! Definitely a highlight for me to in 2015!
It was an absolute delight getting to hang with you in Bangkok! Nothing funnier than a sassy Australian paired with a sassy South African!
