Discovering the delicious hidden secrets of Kathmandu with Backstreet Academy
Who or what is the Backstreet Academy?
An Afternoon’s Delight on the Secret Food Tour
Our afternoon walk starts at our stunningly cold hotel and before we know it we are in the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. The smells, the sounds and most importantly the food. Our guide is an absolute delight. Taking the time to explain the dishes and explain to the stall holders that I’m a travel blogger. Many people just sat back and laugh at me trying to take photos of the food. Fair call. Another perk of going with a guide was the whole food intolerance thing. Having someone be able to easily explain my companions dietary needs.

Would I take another class/tour with Backstreet Academy?
Yes I would. Without a doubt. From the ease of booking in the experiences to saying goodbye to our delightful guides, it was an absolute pleasure to experience a city with Backstreet Academy. I enjoyed my time so much, that I’ve become a Backstreet Academy Ambassador. I’m hoping that one day in the near future they’ll have experiences in Japan that I can enjoy.
*Updated June 2019 – I did take another breakfast tour with Backstreet Academy in Kathmandu. As a part of attending the Himalayan Travel Mart I took a group of 8 amazing content creators on this tour. With everyone loving this tour as much as I did.
Don’t delay book your local experience with the amazing team at Backstreet Academy today.

Thanks for introducing us to Kathmandu Backstreet academy. Most of these dishes are similar in name to Indian dishes but still, I would like to check these out. Price too sounds reasonable.
Well there is a lot of cross over between the two countries
Nepal has some lovely food. In fact, there are different types of items from different regions. I hope you tried a classical “Thakali Thali” for dinner. That’s the best!
I certainly did 🙂
I took the Backstreet Academy tour when I visited Kathmandu in March, it was only me on my lonesome, with the guide, but it was a fantastic couple of hours, with lots of laughs and going to hidden shops and trying various Nepalese foods. The momos always remain my favourite.
Oh momo’s are so delicious
